LOOK­ING TO GROW

Our re­sort is still in the in­fancy stage as a des­ti­na­tion wed­ding venue for In­dian wed­dings as com­pared to other brands and chains of ho­tels. Vis­i­bil­ity and aware­ness of our re­sort as a wed­ding venue is still lack­ing. This is a chal­lenge we are cur­rently try­ing to rem­edy.

RIGHT MAR­KET­ING

We have reached out to wed­ding plan­ners in In­dia to cre­ate more vis­i­bil­ity for Mer­i­tus Pe­langi as a wed­ding des­ti­na­tion for the In­dian mar­ket. Tar­geted ad­ver­tis­ing has also been placed to cre­ate aware­ness of the prod­uct. This also in­cludes an on­line plat­form such as the re­sort’s so­cial me­dia ac­counts on Face­book, In­sta­gram, and pop­u­lar wed­ding por­tals. Par­tic­i­pat­ing at wed­ding fairs has cre­ated a pres­ence but noth­ing speaks like ex­pe­ri­ence. Hence, we often in­vite blog­gers to ex­pe­ri­ence wed­dings at Mer­i­tus Pe­langi.

PER­SONAL STYLE

Th­ese days, ev­ery­thing is about style; from bridal out­fits to colour themes and ta­ble ar­range­ments, ev­ery­thing speaks of the cou­ple’s style and lik­ings. Wed­ding cou­ples are mov­ing towards more con­tem­po­rary, taste­ful el­e­gance in place of ex­ces­sive bold­ness, whilst main­tain­ing the tra­di­tional el­e­ments of their cer­e­monies and steer­ing away from purely fresh flo­ral dis­plays to state­ment props that cre­ate a ‘wow’ fac­tor.

VEN­DORS

Our wed­dings are tai­lored to the needs of cou­ples. Hence, we have an ar­ray of ven­dors that we en­gage to cre­ate the dream wed­ding that guests de­mand. Wher­ever pos­si­ble, we en­gage lo­cal ven­dors on the is­land, and where spe­cial­ists are re­quired, we en­gage ven­dors from around Malaysia.

MAIN CHAL­LENGES

One of the main chal­lenges of plan­ning a suc­cess­ful In­dian wed­ding is def­i­nitely lo­gis­tics. Lo­gis­tics of bring­ing out­sourced items at the last minute, plan­ning, and de­tailed or­gan­i­sa­tion are cru­cial to a des­ti­na­tion wed­ding.

UNIQUE RE­QUESTS

We have had to co-or­di­nate a unique Bol­ly­wood en­trance to the cer­e­mony where the groom wanted to en­ter the func­tion by jet-ski and a he­li­copter land­ing on the beach for the bride with min­i­mum sand fly­ing over the bride. This was tough but we man­aged to get it done.
