AN EVIL NEXUS
This is in reference to the news report, “DSP probing illegal mining mowed down by truck”. Sadly, it is neither the first nor last incident when an honest officer has been killed by these sand mafias. We have seen it in the past as well that the sand mafia forge a nexus with corrupt officials who allow them to illegally mine for their commercial interests. We need to understand that since there is a gap between supply and demand of grit, sand etc., these sand mafias exploit that gap. Need of the hour is to not only teach the killers of DSP Surender Singh a tough lesson, but construction specialists must also research the substitution of these construction materials so that we have a long-lasting solution for this menace called illegal mining.

INEVITABLE OBJECTION
This is in reference to the news report “Monsoon Session Day II: Amid protest by Opposition, both Houses adjourned”. The way the ruling party in power at the Centre increased the prices of each and every consumable item, the Opposition cannot be expected to remain indifferent in the matter. The sloganeering by Opposition leaders during the ongoing Monsoon Session was therefore inevitable. I think Rahul Gandhi has rightly taken exceptions when the PM avoided answering questions and ran away from a discussion in Parliament over price rise and GST hike. In my opinion, the Government at the Centre should be held responsible for the loss of Central exchequer in holding the Parliament Session.
