- OUR CORRESPONDENT

KOLKATA: Former Education minister Partha Chatterjee on Sunday claimed that the money Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials seized from two flats of Arpita Mukherjee is not his.

On Sunday Chatterjee and Mukherjee were taken to the Joka ESI Hospital for routine health check up as per the order of the Calcutta High Court. While entering the hospital Chatterjee was asked about who is the conspirator as the former Education minister had claimed that he is a victim of conspiracy. Replying to the media persons, Chatterjee said: “Everything will be clear when time comes”.

When asked about the money, he said: “The money is not mine.” After Chatterjee was taken inside the hospital, Mukherjee followed without uttering a single word. After the health check up was over, while coming out of the hospital, Chatterjee again said: “The money is not mine, not mine, not mine.”

Despite Mukherjee being asked about Chatterjee’s statement as she had earlier claimed that the money belonged to the former Education minister, she did not make any comments.

Sources informed that ED officials are interrogating Chatterjee and Mukherjee by showing them the deeds of the lands, flats and houses. Sleuths suspect that Mukherjee is still not telling the truth as several discrepancies are found in her statement after comparing it with the documents found from her flats and other places. This apart, a garments shop in Barasat is under the scanner of the central agency as the former Education minister used to visit the shop frequently to buy sarees. Investigating officials are trying to find out why he bought so many sarees.
