Nat’l post doctoral fellow of JU bags global prestigious award
Arnab Majumdar will join Imperial College London, one of the top 10 universities of the world and will continue his research with Prof Martin Buck, a pioneer scientist in molecular microbiology
Dr Arnab Majumdar, National Post Doctoral Fellow in the research unit at the School of Environmental Studies, Jadavpur University (JU) has been awarded with the world’s most prestigious and competitive research award Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship by the European Commission.
It is worth mentioning that this fellowship is of the utmost fame for any young researcher and very few Indians get awarded while being in the country. Dr Majumdar will join Imperial College London, one of the top 10 universities of the world and will continue his research with Prof Martin Buck, a pioneer scientist in molecular microbiology.
“Arnab’s achievement is just a reflection of his tremendous
dedication to the research for the betterment of society and environment and I will continue my research with him for a long time to improve environmental issues,” said Professor Tarit Roychowdhury of the School of Environmental Studies, JU. Arnab has been working with Prof Roychowdhury in the area of mitigating the problem of arsenic toxicity in soil and rice plants by implementing various agronomic practices and bacterial amendments.
The team of the School of Environmental Studies with the involvement of Arnab has shared many recent effective research articles providing solutions for arsenic and fluoride. Arnab has done his PhD from the department of Earth Science, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata.
