ESSENTIAL COURSE-CORRECTION

-

This is in reference to the news report, "AI Express cancels 100 flights; Govt asks Airline to resolve issues promptly". First Vistara and now Air India, Tata's woes do not seem to end soon. The Indian aviation market is the thirdlargest market in the world with almost USD 14 billion in size. It Is bound to have some or the other hiccups but if it is the flyers who are at the receiving end on a continuous basis then airlines must introspect. Maintaining a balance between employees' welfare and flyers' experience is a tight rope walk but airlines must do that with a long term picture in mind. Handling a merger is never going to be an easy task, but that is where the real test of the management lies. Aviation was one of the worst-hit sectors during the pandemic, and now, when demand is surpassing the supply, airlines cannot afford to falter.

So, Tatas need to be on their toes and do some course correction to address employees-related concerns without any further delay.
