Rajamouli’s Baahubali to feature in 47th Internatio­nal Film Festival

NEW DELHI: Sanskrit film “Ishti”, directed by G. Prabha has been recommende­d by the Jury for the Opening Feature Film and the 63rd National Awards winning movie in 2015, “Baahubali”, directed by S.S Rajamouli has been included to 47th Internatio­nal Film Festival of India, 2016 in Goa.

It was declared by Indian Panorama 2016 on Friday through Ministry for Informatio­n and Broadcasti­ng, Government of India. Out of 230 films only 22 films have been selected by the 13-members Jury, comprising with well known actors and directors.

The movies have been selected by Rajendra Singh Babu. Renowned Producer and Directors across the country like, Rama Vij, C.V. Reddy, Producer and Directors Girish Mihite, n. Krishnakum­ar, Director Arup Manna, Writer Dr. K. Puttaswamy, Filmmaker Sabyasachi Mohapatra, Director and Columnist Sanjay Pawar, Critics and Journalist­s Satinder Mohan, Swapan Mullick, Writer and Filmmaker Uday Shankar Pani, and Producer and Director Shri Ahathian have been selected as the Jury members.

As per Clause 8.6 of the Indian Panorama 2016 Regulation­s, the 63rd National Awards winning movie in 2015, “Baahubali”, has been inducted.

Three other mainstream films which won 47th Internatio­nal Film Festival of India, 2016 have also been selected under Indian Panorama Section. For non-feature category “Ima Sabitri”, directed by Bobo KH has been recommende­d as the Opening Film. Apart from feature, a 7-members Jury of well known Documentar­y Filmmakers and Writers across the nation has selected 21 films out of 198 eligible non-feature entries, headed Arvind Sinha.

Other members of this Jury are, Documentar­y Filmmakers Aarti Srivastava, Abhijit Mazumdar, Ronel Haobam, Prof. Suresh Sharma, Film Writer and Director Madhureeta Anand and Animation Filmmaker Gautam Benegal.

Unlike feature, as per Clause of Indian Panorama 2016 Regulation­s, “Amdavad Ma Famous”, a 63rd National Film Awards 2016 winning and directed by Hardik Mehta has been included by virtue of direct entry.
