Crime Branch arrests three for killing man, robbing

NEW DELHI: Days after a man was killed and his son was injured while six accused robbed Rs 8.5 lakh in civil lines, Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested three accused persons. The remaining three are still absconding, police said on Thursday. Police have also recovered Rs 3.42 lakh from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Dharmender Sokia (24), Ganga Sahib (26) and Arun (25). They told police that all six of them were on three motorcycle­s and both the victims were going back to their house from their shop, which is in Sadar Bazar, in a rickshaw because they used to park their cars by a Metro station near Boulevard Road.

The accused were following the victims from their shop and at about 9.40 pm, when the victims reached near the Metro station to take their car, all the six accused tried to rob Rs 8.50 lakh which they were carrying.

When the victims resisted, they took out their weapons — pistol and knives and started firing and stabbing both the victims and robbed Rs 8.50 lakh and fled from the spot on their motorcycle­s. Dharas Chhabra died in St Stephen Hospital.

Further investigat­ion is underway to nab the remaining three accused who have been identified, police said.
