NEW DELHI: A day after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter handle was hacked, the official Twitter account of Indian National Congress was hacked too on Thursday. Surprisingly, the two happened within a span of 24 hours. The Cyber Cell of Delhi Police has registered two separate FIRS and is investigating the matter.

Rahul Gandhi and Indian National Congress got a taste of Cyber Crime when their twitter handles were compromised by a hacker and some offensive tweets were posted. The police are still investigating if both the accounts were hacked by a single person or more than one person was involved in the crime.

The Congress filed a complaint with the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police on the hacking of the two Twitter handles. The complaint was filed by Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, demanding registration of a criminal case and strict action against those behind hacking.

The Delhi Police Cyber Cell immediately swung into action and FIRS were registered.

“We have received a formal complain from Mr Surjewala and we have registered two separate FIRS both in Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s case and Indian Nation Congress’ case under Section 66 of the IT Act. We have also written to Twitter but we are yet to receive a reply,” said Anyesh Roy, Additional DCP Economic Offence Wing.

The hacker posted offensive comments from @Officeofrg and @ Incindia twitter handles throwing the Congress party into a tizzy.

The party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala took it as an opportunity to attack the government and tweeted: “Cyber security on @Incindia and @Officeofrg exposes the vulnerability of cyber security and digital platforms in India. An eye opener for Modiji.”

After the account was restored, Rahul Gandhi tweeted: “To everyone of you haters out there. I love all of you. You’re beautiful. Your hatred just doesnt let you see it yet.”
