DMRC holds 200th puppet show aimed at commuter etiquette

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporatio­n (DMRC) has completed 200 puppet shows in schools, aimed at create discipline­d future commuters, a senior officer said on Sunday.

The officer said that DMRC reached another landmark in its social outreach and corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR) campaign by completing a series of 200 puppet shows, which started on July 2015 at schools across the National Capital Region.

The puppet shows have been successful­ly organised in various government schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas and other private schools in the city, covering more than 50,000 students in the age groups of 10-14 years and above, he said.

“The Delhi Metro also organised these puppet shows at all the depots and residentia­l colonies of the DMRC network to spread awareness about travelling etiquette in Delhi Metro among children. It is an ini- tiative to inculcate good manners and etiquette among the children and create discipline­d Metro commuters for the future,” a DMRC Spokespers­on said.

The duration of each puppet show is around 15 minutes and these shows are organised free of charge for schools located in Delhi and the NCR.

Puppeteers from Kathputli Colony in North Delhi perform these shows.

The efforts of the Delhi Metro towards inculcatin­g the spirit of discipline and own- ership among the commuters have been well received and appreciate­d, the spokespers­on said.

Delhi Metro has also establishe­d a museum at Patel Chowk Metro Station to connect to the children of the city more effectivel­y.

In the past, the museum has conducted workshops for children undergoing treatment for cancer, orthopedic­ally challenged chilren, underprivi­leged sections, senior citizens and many others, the official added.
