Minor gang-raped, dumped near hospital; two apprehende­d

NEW DELHI: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two of her friends after her drink was allegedly spike by the accused rendering her unconsciou­s. The victim had attended a friend’s birthday party in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area on Tuesday.

When she woke up, she found that she has been raped and the two accused allegedly threw her near a hospital in West Delhi.

According to Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commission­er of Police (West), one of the accused, a 17-year-old boy was apprehende­d, while the 18-year-old boy, identified as Sahil was arrested late on Tuesday evening.

The incident came to light at around 3 pm when a passerby spotted a girl lying on the roadside, asking for help. Once the passer-by approached her, the girl disclosed that she was thrown on the roadside by two boys who sexually assaulted her, said a senior police officer, privy to the investigat­ion.

The minor then called her father after which the girl went to her house and narrated her ordeal to her parents.

Consequent­ially, the family took the girl to the nearby police station where based on her statement and medical examinatio­n which confirmed sexual assault.

Police said that a team was formed and by late Tuesday evening, both the accused were held.

Police said that they have registered a case under Section 376 (rape) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Uttam Nagar police station against the two accused. Further investigat­ion is underway.
