SNIFFER DOGS, MOUNTED COPS SCOUT JNU CAMPUS FOR NAJEEB
NEW DELHI: Six hundred policemen comprising Delhi Police Crime branch officials, local police accompanied with horse mounted police and sniffer dogs scanned and searched the JNU campus for the missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed.
It was a first-of-its-kind operation where even horses and sniffer dogs were deployed along with a strong team of DCP, a dozen ACPS and inspectors to search for any clue of the missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed who disappeared in October this year.
The search lasted for several hours on Monday and 60 per cent of the campus including Najeeb’s room, several hostels and rooftops were covered.
The campus including the jungle were manually scanned. Dog squads could be seen sniffing for any clue from pits and sewers along with various other places for any trace of the missing student. Mounted policemen were also seen searching the jungle in the area.
The police were following orders of the High Court which ordered the Delhi Police to press dog squads into action to find any trace of the missing student. The directions came on the habeas corpus plea by Najeeb’s mother, Fatima Nafees, who has moved court to trace her son who has been missing since October 15 after an alleged scuffle with ABVP students.
The search party visited JNU early morning and several teams with the motive to trace Najeeb. The jungle stretch was scanned too for any possible clue.
“We are going to continue our search on Tueday as well. We have just covered 60 per cent of the area,” said Joint CP Crime Ravinder Yadav.
Delhi police have already raised the cash reward to Rs 10 lakh for any clue regarding the missing biotechnology student Najeeb.
