GHAZIABAD/NOIDA: With the Assembly elections round the corner, the industrial development authorities of both Noida and Ghaziabad have left no stone unturned to ensure development of the region located bang on Delhi. In their separate board meetings in Lucknow, both the authorities announced a slew of measures.

“The authorities have discussed hundreds of projects for both the cities and majority of them were passed. Emphasis was also given on ongoing/ pending projects as these were the last meetings of the sitting government,” said a senior official in Lucknow on Thursday.

The Ghaziabad Authority (GDA), in its meeting has given the go ahead to as many as 175 proposals including to pay compensation to them whose farming lands were acquired under the Madhuban Bapudham Colony. “Majority of proposals, which were passed, were from previous board meeting. Proposal to provide land measuring 1,200-square metre for power sub-station in Kavinagar Yojna was approved with adequate compensation as per the new acquisition policy. Acquisition of land measuring 281-acre for Madhuban Bapudham project was also cleared which is a big leap for the authority. To improve traffic system in the region, the authority has decided to allocate more fund,” said the official.

The Noida Authority, in its board meeting, pushed 14.95-km NoidaGreater Noida (west) Metro link—the foundation for which was laid by the UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on December 14 and approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Talking about the funding and its pattern, the officials said that the Government of India and government of UP’S equity will be Rs 336 crores, while Noida and Greater Noida will share Rs 130 crore and Rs 260 crore, respectively.

Besides this, the authority has also announced to allow Community Centers in residential colonies in the city to be converted into clubs for the use of public. The club will be run by the RWA and the association will have to create a system, which is inclusive of management, directions and finance. The board meeting has also announced the Project Settlement Policy approved by state government last month. The policy is focused on providing reprieve to thousands of home buyers rather than the builders.

Long pending issues of thousands of farmers who have been agitating for decades was also settled by the Board and the farmers in Noida will soon get 5 per cent developed plots in lieu of abadi lands acquired from them by the government between 1997 and 2008.
