Girl killed in Merc: Main accused Shubham still at large

NEW DELHI: A day after the shocking case of the murder of a 17-year-old in a Mercedes car in Najafgarh came to the fore, the police are yet to make any major headway in the case as the main accused in the case, Shubham is yet to be traced.

The police have now constitute­d several raiding teams and are scouring through the city in a bid to apprehend Shubham. Furthermor­e, the police have questioned Shubham’s parents to trace his whereabout­s.

“We have conducted multiple raids at Shubham’s relative’s house in Bahadurgar­h and other places in Delhi. His parents are also absconding after the murder. We have grilled four of his friends for questionin­g but have been released later,” said a senior police official.

He added that police are conducting raids on the basis of technical surveillan­ce and inputs gathered after questionin­g Shubham’s relatives and friends. The victim’s body was handed over to his family after autopsy.

The police have still remained tight-lipped about the nature of the relationsh­ip shared between Nitin and the deceased and are probing his role in the girl’s death.

“We haven’t given a clean chit to Yogesh and Nitin, who were also present at the spot when the victim was shot dead by Shubham inside the car. There roles will be verified and cross examined after Shubham gets arrested,” the police official added.

On Tuesday, a 17-year-old girl was shot dead in front of her house allegedly by her friend in South-west Delhi’s Najafgarh area. The prime accused Shubham (22), is absconding after killing the girl inside his friend Yogesh’s Mercedes car. The licensed arm that was used in the crime belongs to Yogesh. The victim accompanie­d by Yogesh and Shubham had gone to Rajouri Garden to have lunch. The incident took place when they had come to drop her home at around 8 pm.
