2-day-old baby girl found abandoned in Ggn
GURUGRAM: A baby girl was found abandoned in the outskirts of Gurugram city. The baby girl, who is believed to be just two-days-old was found in a carton box in Shikohpur Village situated on National Highway-8.the village is 14-kilometre away from Gurugram city centre and 29 kilometre from Pataudi. The newborn was rescued after the villagers heard cries coming from the Aravalli hillocks on Wednesday evening. On further inquiry, the villagers found a newborn baby girl abandoned in a carton box.
Immediately after seeing baby in a critical state, the villagers contacted the cops.
With the coordination of villagers of Pataudi, the Gurugram Police officials took her to the hospital.
The girl is presently recovering in the Civil Hospital, Gurugram. The baby girl is still not out of danger and has been kept under observation. A senior doctor from the Civil Hospital who is treating the baby girl said: “The age of the girl seems to around 2-3 days old. The girl is presently kept under observation. The doctors are on vigil to ensure that the baby does not contract any infection.” Female infanticide is one of the major challenge plaguing Gurugram. The city and the areas around it has one of the worse sex ratio in the country.
In the 2011 government census, it was observed that for 1,000 males in Gurugram there are only 854 females.
In the earlier part of 2016, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that Gurugram as well as it neighbouring Mewat district had shown improvement in the sex ratio.
Presenting the figures, Khattar mentioned that Gurugram now had 946 females for every 1,000 males and Mewat had 903 females for every 1,000 males.
Under a centrally launched drive Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the Haryana government has aimed to improve the sex ratio in Haryana by aiming at 950 females for every 1,000 males.
“Female infanticide has always been a major challenge in South Haryana not only in the rural parts but also in the urban parts. The City police are doing its part by penalising the clinics in the city that commit female infanticide,” said a police official.
