FILM SCREENING

Nada Nagar na Ujaro: This is a biographical documentary on Padmashri Asgari Begum documented during her last days. The film is a unique blend of nostalgic talks with rare drupad gayiki of Gwalior Gharana. She was one of the few drupad singers of her time and depicted very different style which gave her space in the world of classical music. The film is directed by Shyam Sharma and is 1 hour and 10 minutes long. WHEN: January 13 WHERE: IGNCA Audtorium TIMING: 5:30 pm

THE POWER OF ART

In 2013 Anni Kumari and Jasone Miranda-bilbao began an exchange of ideas surrounding the question of what art can do and how to bring the potential of this into their work. The work of Jasone Miranda-bilbao investigates the question of how we position ourselves in relation to the world around us by means of movement, space and form. Anni Kumari makes observations about the connection between materials and geographical locations. What we see in this exhibition titled ‘Some things change’ is the result of those conversations explored from the artists’ own individual perspectives. SIGNIFYING FORMS

The spirit and motive of the show “Soul of my Country” an exhibition of paintings by veteran artist Uma Bardhan is an endeavour to find out the secret significance of form and appearance, discovering one’s deeper self, giving a soul-form to the vision and remoulding of the material and natural shape to express the psychic truth of it with the greatest possible purity. The artworks by Zargar Zahoor focus on scenic beauty that surrounds us and different hues of colors are used to capture and achieve the flawless beauty on his canvas. Of all Zargar’s paintings here are those that look most modern and most abstract- those that look like a poem of light.
