BJP leader from Sahibabad hacked to death, no arrests yet
GHAZIABAD: Tension gripped the region after a 55-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Shaheed Nagar area in Sahibabad was brutally stabbed to death by some unknown assailants.
“The deceased Sinhasan Pehalwan, a dairy owner, was brutally stabbed in the throat by some unknown assailants on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Looking at the body of the deceased, it is very clear that the murder was done intentionally and with proper planning,” said police officials.
Sinhasan Pehalwan was a popular face of the BJP in the region. There is acute tension in the region after the murder. The supporters and family members are also blaming the police saying that the cops allegedly released the culprits by taking bribe and the murder was planned after the release. The supporters and the family members protested against the police which created a tension in the region. Extra police force has been deployed in the area to de-escalate the tension.
According to the family members of the deceased: “Sinhansan had a small fight with some people belonging to a particular community a few days back but the police released them after they paid some amount of money in the form of bribe to the police. The culprits were creating nuisance near the dairy of the deceased. The police took them to the police station after a complaint was made but later they released all of them by taking a sum of Rs 2,000. The family members also alleged that the murder was planned by the group of the same people after they got released as an act of taking revenge and the police are also responsible for the death of Sinhasan.
“We have registered an FIR on the basis of the complaint made by the family member. The body has been sent for post-mortem. We are investigating the matter. Soon, the accused will be behind the bars,” said a police official.
