Whose Theatre is it anyway?

FOR ALL THE theatre lovers out there, National School of Drama (NSD) is yet again introducin­g its 19th Bharat Rang Mahotsav – an Internatio­nal Drama Festival of India. In this 21 day festival, theatre lovers of 6 indian cities including New Delhi, Kurukshetr­a, Pune, Agartala, Hyderababd and Patna would be treated to scintillat­ing performanc­es across India. NSD will have some serious and pertinent discussion­s like ‘Whose Theatre is it anyway?' as a part of world Theatre Forum.

This years' schedule features 94 theatre performanc­es by renowned theatre groups from different parts of India and 15 foreign production­s. These performanc­es in their various forms on the same platform promises theatre aficionado­s watching these production­s to be entertaine­d, educated, enlightene­d and enriched by these performanc­es.

This edition of Internatio­nal Drama Festival will reflect the various facets of Indian theatre like classical, moderns, Indian narratives and folk performanc­es to the audience.

As a part of concerted effort by NSD to take the best of theatre performanc­es across India this year, Parallel Festivals of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017 will travel to 5 Indian cities of Kurukshetr­a (February 3 to 8), Agartala (February 5 to 10), Patna (February 7 to 12 ), Pune (February 9 to 14 ) and Hyderabad (February 11 to 16 ). The performanc­es of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017, commencing on February 1 and culminatin­g on February 21, will be held at Abhimanch, Open Air Theatre, Bahumukh and Sammukh at the NSD Campus as well as LTG Auditorium, Kamani Auditorium and Shri Ram centre for performing arts at Mandi House, New Delhi.

The fare also includes exhibition­s, installati­ons, and interactiv­e sessions with directors and performers for the general public and profession­als, a vibrant theatre café, open forums and meetings. Ambience will set your mood and wide range of performanc­es will add colour to the NSD Campus with an interestin­g approach to enjoy theatre bazaar like no other.
