Two women gang-raped in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: Two women were gang raped in the outskirts of Gurugram after a group of armed burglars ransacked the commercial unit.

The incident has been reported from a village in Pataudi. The incident of dacoity and gang rape occurred on early Sunday morning.

According to the reports, around seven to ten heavily armed burglars ransacked a commercial unit at a village in Pataudi with an objective of committing heist at the unit.

After committing the robbery in the area, the burglars then held hostage the two female employees who were present at the unit at that time and raped them.

The burglars are still absconding and there have been no arrests made in this case as of now. The medical reports have confirmed that the two female employees have been raped. According to sources the burglars remained in the area for four hours.

Senior police officials visited the area. “This is a serious incident and based upon the criticalit­y of the case, we have decided to transfer the case to the Gurugram Crime Branch, said Tanya Singh who is the ACP Pataudi area.

“Meanwhile, we have spoken to the rape survivors and registered their complaints. We have assured them that action will be taken soon against the culprits. It is still uncertain how many people were involved in this ghastly act. There is also a possibilit­y that there is a presence of profession­al gang in carrying out this act “said Singh.

Lot of criminal gangs are said to be active in Gurugram and its outskirts.

Around 150 such gangs are estimated to be presently functional in the city

In 2016 members of around 60 dreaded gangs were arrested in the city by the Crime branch.

“I have to still look at the case to make any claims but there can be a possibilit­y of a criminal gang being involved in this ghastly act, “said a senior police official from Gurugram Crime branch.
