FIRE IN HOOKAH BAR KILLS MAN

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man was charred to death in a major fire that broke out at Rohini Sector 9 in Amba Tower. One fire brigade officer was also injured in the incident.

Fire was reported at the 6th floor of Amba Tower in Mirza Restaurant, police said. The cops also suspect they have reports that an illegal hookah bar was run in the restaurant and they are investigat­ing the cause of the fire.

As soon as the fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon, more than 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the fire that had engulfed a major parts of the building. Men and women were stranded on the sixth floor when the fire took place. The locals allege that an illegal hookah bar was run in the restaurant. Though many were saved, one boy could not get down in time and was stuck in the fire.

“We had initial inputs that a hookah bar was run in the restaurant. We are verifying the claims. One boy has died in the fire incident. We will register a case after initial investigat­ion,” said M N Tiwari, DCP Rohini.

The deceased boy has been identified as Kamal (24), a resident of Rohini. Its still unclear what is the cause of the fire.

The fire brigade officials had a tough time controllin­g the fire that was on the sixth floor.

“One man has died and one of our man is injured too,” said a fire officer. The fire tenders later controlled the fire. The cops are now investigat­ing if the fire originated because of the negligence of someone.
