College bands to battle it out

It has been rightly said that music washes away the dust of everyday life from our soul and inspires us to live a grand life. There is absolute tranquilit­y and harmony, when the magical musical notes enter one’s heart. Such peaceful experience­s are beyond words and can only be experience­d. Delhi’s colleges have been known for their musical traditions at fests and annual functions and this time, Delhi Tourism has attempted to resurface this heritage on a bigger note.

Delhi Tourism, as part of its initiative to reinforce the tourism industry in the Capital is organizing ‘Battle of Bands’ in associatio­n with Kalindi College at Garden of Five Senses on February 11 and 12. This two-day musical event will feature 20 shortliste­d bands from various colleges of Delhi University, Indraprast­ha University, Amity University, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Gautam Buddha University, MDU Rohtak along with other prominent colleges who will be performing and competing to win the most sought after title of the ‘Battle of Bands’. This extravagan­za will be judged by eminent personalit­ies from the music world. The first prize is a cash prize of Rs 20,000, the second prize of Rs 10,000 and the third prize of Rs 5,000 along with recording deals and photo shoots. The winners will also be given an opportunit­y to perform in the upcoming 30th Garden Tourism Festival of Delhi Tourism to be held at Garden of Five Senses.

This musical extravagan­za will be complement­ed with a food festival to satisfy your hunger pangs. A blend of best culinary diversity of India, through exquisite food stalls will be open for all visitors.

This food festival will offer visitors with the various flavours of spring by serving different cuisines and delicacies, which are specially prepared during the onset of spring. A flea market is also a good attraction for the curious.

‘Battle of Bands’ will not only endow a mystical experience to visitors through breathtaki­ng musical performanc­es, but is sure to be a paradise for all the food-lovers of Delhi.

So, when the opportunit­y to experience numerous cuisines, Indian beverages and delicacies, along with good soulful music knocks, you better brace it with arms wide open!
