MUSICAL ODE TO GIRL CHILD

THE MUSIC LOVERS of Delhi witnessed the abundance of melody with the overwhelmi­ng performanc­e at “Sounds of Heaven”. To commemorat­e the achievemen­ts of women and to save girl child, Le Rythme, in associatio­n with Sangeet Natak Akademi organized the spectacula­r cultural evening, to demonstrat­e the contributi­on of women in different phases of life. The colourful glides and high quality presentati­ons by the students of Rythme School of Music along with their respective faculties enthralled the audience and drew rich applause with their outstandin­g performanc­e in dance, vocal and instrument­s. Syed Mehmood Akhtar, Director of ICCR, MEA was the chief guest for the programme. Other dignitarie­s including the former Ambassador, High Commission­ers, Secretarie­s of Govt’ of India were present on the occasion.

The programme started with ‘Saraswati Vandana’ by Rini Mukherjee followed by Nazrul Geeti based on Rag Basant to pay homage to her Guru, legendary vocalist, Pandit Biswajit Chatterjee, who recently passed away. Rini’s fascinatin­g voice on ‘Ek Radha Ek Mira’ and ‘Tumhi Meri Mandir,’ engrossed the audience and reminded of Lata ji.

Audience got the opportunit­y to witness the vivacious performanc­e of maestro Pandit Rajendra Prasanna in Shehnai accompanie­d by Debashis Adhikari on Tabla. Santoor recital by Padmashree Pandit Satish Vyas mesmerized the audience.

During this occasion, Le Rythme honoured Shibho Koser, a renowned Kathak dancer and registrar of Pracheen Kala Kendra, with life time achievemen­t award.
