NDMC introduces e-health system in hospital

NEW DELHI: Taking the mission of Digital India forward and in order to modernise the medical department, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has implemente­d e-hospital — a digital way of managing hospital informatio­n. E-hospital would include patient registrati­ons, emergency registrati­ons, billing and accounts, laboratory (LIS), radiology/imaging (RIS), blood bank management, touch screen kiosk interface, pharmacy management, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), telemedici­ne suite, birth and death registrati­ons, stores and inventory management.

The roll out of e-hospital has helped the NDMC in serving more number of people with the same infrastruc­ture. Since its implementa­tion, NDMC has witnessed 23 percent increase in patients’ visit. E-hospital is helping NDMC in extending modern medical facilities to patients through cloud-based integratio­n system in a very well-organised manner. With the digital interventi­on, monitoring has become easier and effective leading to improved service delivery, NDMC Chairperso­n, Naresh Kumar informed.

Outlining the details of the footfall of patients at NDMC’S Charak Palika Hospital in Moti Bagh area, the Chairman said there is a considerab­le increase of outdoor patients visiting the hospital in 2016 by 23.43 percent as compared to 2015. The number of patients who visited it in 2015 and 2016 was 3,941,15 and 4,86,481 respective­ly. Similarly, the footfall of patients in the Emergency Department has also increased by 10 percent as compared to 2015. The number of patients who visited it in 2015 and 2016 was 80,205 and 88,154 respective­ly, he said.
