Galgotias University student kills self
GREATER NOIDA: A 22-yearold girl student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her hostel room in Khushboo Apartments in Sectorpi, Greater Noida on Monday. Darshika Singh who hails from Patna, Bihar was a first year student of Master of Social Work in Galgotias University.
Sudhir Tyagi, Station House Officer, Kasna police station, said: “The incident was reported to us at around 2 pm and we rushed to the spot. We found her hanging from a ceiling fan with her scarf. We took custody of the body and the autopsy is awaited till the guardians arrive. No case has been registered yet. We have informed the family members of the deceased. Her body will be handed over to the family and only after the postmortem report, we will be able to carry out further investigations.”
“This is a clear case of suicide. The girl didn’t go to her college on the day she committed suicide. No suicide note has been found from the room. Moreover, we are also unable to get any call records from the mobile phone recovered as the phone was locked with a pattern lock. If any case gets registered, we will try to find out the call details from the telecom company or other sources,” added Tyagi.
Khushboo Apartments in Sector-pi, Greater Noida has certain residential towers. Among those, some have been leased out to the University to run their girl’s hostel. Other than Khushboo, there are many other builder’s project in Greater Noida where the University has taken certain portions on lease for their hostel. Since the University is under construction and there is no proper infrastructure to accommodate thousands of students of the University, the students are forced to live in a much lenient and less secure environment. There always remains a question on the security of the students living in such type of dwellings.
