Owning Mont Blanc, Apple watch lands CPM MP Ritabrata in soup
The Politburo Committee of the Communist Party of India on Sunday decided to censure its ‘youth’ leader and CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Bandopadhyay owing to his unacceptable behaviour on social media.
Reportedly, Bandopadhyay had threatened a 24-year-old party legislator on social media who posted questions on how a full-timer could be in possession of pricey watches worth Rs 50,000 and Mont Blanc pen costing anything around Rs 70,000 and Rs 1 lakh.
Moreover, the MP had allegedly written a complaint mail to the HR of the company in which the concerned individual is an employee. This is Ritabrata Banerjee, the member of Upper House of Indian Parliament. One of your employees is constantly making hate speeches against me on social media. I am going to lodge a formal complaint with the Delhi Police,” read the mail. Following this, the individual lost his job.
Another member, Mohammad Selim clarified the matter saying “Threatening someone through the HR is nothing but the unbecoming of a Communist.”
The committee stated that Bandopadhyay will have to explain his behavior to the state committee of CPIM.
On February 12, Banerjee had gone to Siliguri to watch a football match when Banerjee had uploaded a picture on Facebook. This picture turned the game, where the MP was spotted with both the Mont Blanc pen and an Apple watch. On being asked about the issue, Bandopadhyay said, “My party has asked me to stay shut.”
