When human forms inspired three women artists

- OUR CORRESPONDENT

Fascinated by human form, three accomplished artists – Anitta Sethi, Deepali Roongta and Shashi Tripathi have come up with ‘Surrealist Humanity,’ an art presentation showcasing their individual artistic statements. Anitta, being charmed by Renaissance period and inspired by the surrealist works of Salvador Dali has been deeply mesmerized by human anatomy; however, human body is greatly fascinating to Shashi as she conveys human emotions using the body parts in meaningful compositions and Deepali, believes in communicating through art as she interprets various aspects of human life in an expressive way. So, as a whole, ‘Surrealist Humanity’ is an exposition of humane ideas which proves to be a compassionate presentation for the viewers. This exhibition introduces excellent paintings from the trio joining the contemporary crusade of Indian art world. Though all of them started their artistic venture late, the passionate involvement and dedication added richness to the works.

The paintings are well composed and mature in colour distribution, which makes unique impact on quality of work. Anitta’s choice of earthy colours suggests trueness rather than illusion, there are other selective elements other than human forms juxtaposed in her paintings that create a notable fantasy. Anitta does not like to convey any specific message through her paintings. She believes in self-expression which naturally reflects artist’s thought process according to the time.

Shashi’s strong primary colours combined with rare shades and Deepali’s love for nature reflecting through natural forms and bright candid colour scheme make them outstanding among others. Deepali has participated in several national level group shows, art competitions and presented her solo art exhibitions at India Habitat centre. Some of her paintings convey the genuine struggle about being human beyond doubt, which is her true observation as an artist. Her works are distinctive, comprising contrast colour selection and assemblage of diverse forms. Deepali believes in communicating through art. Her real as well as surreal interpretation of various aspects of human life is expressive and dramatic as she creates her own world on her canvases using strange dispersal of light and shade.

Whereas, Shashi’s creative insight easily connects with nature and human psychology; human body is greatly fascinating to her and it shows in her works. Her paintings conveys human emotions using the body parts in meaningful compositions. The elements of her paintings are carefully chosen and placed in defined and decisive manner. Her colours are strongly primary though she experimented with rare shades sometimes. Shashi likes to express her experiences of life, which comes from meeting people, encountering varied moods and also through relationships. Her works are basically figurative and contemporary in her own approach.

Anitta, Deepali and Shashi continue their creative journey exploring the wider possibilities in their own style and ascertain to make a mark in Indian art scenario.
