NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old man was stabbed multiple times by another man, after the two picked up a fight over some minor issue in Outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri area on Monday. The victim succumbed to the fatal wounds and the police arrested the accused.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Birju and was stabbed six-seven times by the accused Ved Prakash.

The case came to light on Monday, when police received a PCR call that a man was stabbed to death at Gali No 3 Friends Enclave, Sultanpuri. The police reached the spot and rushed Birju to the local hospital, where they declared him brought dead on arrival.

During the course of the investigation, the police had constituted several teams who scoured the area for the accused.

“During our investigation, we found that on February 19, a scuffle took place between accused and the deceased at the latter’s Jhuggi. The accused managed to escape from the area and thought of exacting his revenge. He called the accused near the railway crossing in the area and then stabbed him repeatedly,” said a senior police official.

As part of their investigation process, raids were conducted at various possible hideouts and Ved Prakash was later arrested from Sultanpuri itself.

“We found the blood stained clothes of the accused and the murder weapon. The accused had been previously involved in an arms case registered at Roop Nagar, police station,” the official added. Further investigation is underway.
