Woman attempts suicide at Guru Dronachary­a Metro station

NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old woman, working for a private health insurance company in Delhi’s Badarpur allegedly attempt to commit suicide by jumping before a Metro train at Guru Dronachary­a Metro station on Monday.

Police officials said the incident was reported from the station on the Yellow Line around 7.30 am on Monday, when the woman identified as F Nishat Ansari allegedly jumped on the track as the train, coming from Delhi and heading towards HUDA City Centre, was moving in towards the station.

The victim, who reportedly is an MBBS doctor from Patna and currently resides at DLF-3, suffered a fracture on her right hand and was taken immediatel­y to Fortis Hospital. A senior police official said: “The victim remains unconsciou­s at Fortis Hospital. Furthermor­e, the statement of the victim is still pending.”

“The entire incident was captured in the CCTV footage at Guru Dronachary­a metro station. However, no suicide note was recovered from the spot or from her possession,” the police official said. “The police have registered a suicide case and have initiated an investigat­ion. We are trying to ascertain the reasons for her attempting the apparent suicide. Metro services were disrupted for about ten minutes, officials said,” ACP Manish Sehgal, PRO of Gurugram police told mediaperso­ns.

Four days earlier, a 45-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train, which was heading towards Rithala at platform number one at Shahdara Metro station, Delhi. The victim died on the spot.
