Special Cell arrests 3 Kashmiri youth for stone pelting in Valley

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested three Kashmiri youth in connection with the stone pelting incidents in Kashmir. All three arrests were made from New Friends Colony market in South-east Delhi. “All three are residents of district Baramula of Jammu and Kashmir. They were wanted in stone-pelting cases in Sopore during the time of the protests,” said DCP Special Cell Sanjeev Yadav.

All three have been arrested under Section 41 of the CRPC.

Yawar Muzaffar Bhatt, Waseem Majeed Dar and Danish Hasan Dar, all in their 20s, were arrested on February 20 from the NFC market after the Special Cell received inputs regarding them. All three are residents of Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir. They were arrested after the Jammu and Kashmir police contacted the Delhi Police and shared informatio­n regarding the accused wanted in the stone pelting case. Yawar is said to be involved in stone-pelting incidents in Sopore in 2015 and 2016 and separate FIRS have been registered against him in Sopore.

Waseem Majeed Dar has two stone pelting cases against him in 2016 and 2017 in Sopore. Danish Hasan is allegedly involved in similar incidents in Sopore in three separate cases in 2016 and 2017. All three have been sent to judicial custody.
