60-yr-old arrested for raping minor girl for over two years

The 60-year-old man, along with a juvenile boy, have been apprehended for raping a 15-year-old girl over a period of two-and-a-half years in Central Delhi’s IP Estate area

NEW DELHI: In a disturbing case, a 60-year-old man, along with a juvenile boy, have been apprehended for raping a 15-year-old girl over a period of two-and-a-half years in Central Delhi’s IP Estate area.

The two accused had raped the girl, taking advantage of the fact that her parents were not around.

The 60-year-old accused has been arrested and the juvenile accused has been sent to a juvenile home.

The victim told police that the two accused raped her on different occasions after they found her alone at home over a period of two-and-ahalf years, said a senior police officer.

After the victim’s family got to know of her ordeal, they approached police, the police officer further said.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO has been registered, he added.

The police arrested the 60-year-old after the FIR was registered and later managed to zero in on the juvenile and later sent him to a juvenile home. The victim’s parents are engaged in smalltime jobs and the victim would stay alone at home most of the times.

Both the accused used to stay in her neighbourhood and initially the juvenile used to sexually assault her, police said. After the 60-year-old man got to know about the incident, he also began targeting the minor girl, the police official said.

“They targeted the victim on different occasions and even threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter with anyone”, said the officer.

However, the girl managed to confide in her parents about the repeated sexual assaults and they informed police.
