Valuables worth Rs 5 lakh looted from mobile shop in Sohna

GURUGRAM: While there have been no arrests made in the case of thefts at more than ten shops in Badshahpur on Monday, another similar burglary has occurred in the outskirts of the city.

A robbery took place at a mobile shop in Sohna late Tuesday night, in which a group of robbers stole valuables worth Rs 5,00,000. In this case too, all the culprits were able to successfully flee the crime scene after committing the theft. The yet-to-be identified culprits have still not been arrested by the Gurugram Police.

The robbers reportedly entered the shop by breaking through the ceiling and whisked away with several electronic devices.

The Sohna incident paints another sorry picture of the law and order situation in the city.

According to officials at Sohna Police station, lack of CCTV cameras in the area and the absence of a security guard have only compounded the problems of policemen in arresting the robbers.

“We are on the lookout for the robbers who have committed this robbery and hope to catch them soon. Unfortunately, as there were no CCTV cameras and guards in the area our officials are going to have difficult time. We are depending on our sources for catching the culprits,” said a senior police official from Sohna police station.

“Our officials are working towards curbing the crime in the area and make the resident in the area safe and secure,” added the official.

There seems to be no respite to Gurugram residents, with the massive spike in burglaries showing no signs of slowing down. With each passing day, burglars in the Millennium City are not only successful in carrying out daring thefts and heists, but in some cases the incidents also prove to be deadly to the victims.

In a previous deadly burglary within Gurugram city, three burglars entered a gas warehouse in Rajendra Park area and shot down the on duty security guard and stole nearly Rs 30,000.
