Delhi BJP leader accused of rape, case registered

GURUGRAM: A former Delhi MLA, who is also a Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party leader, has been accused of rape after a woman alleged that he drugged and assaulted her, police said on Wednesday.

The case against the leader has been registered in the Women Police Station in Gurugram.

The FIR against the BJP leader has been lodged under Sections of 376, 328 and 506.

The case came to light after the woman, who is also a BJP member, provided a written complaint of sexual assault by the BJP leader to DCP South district of Gurugram Police.

The woman, who is a resident of South Delhi, has claimed that she was sexually assaulted by the BJP leader in Gurugram on February 10.

According to reports, the woman knew the BJP leader for almost three years.

There is also a complaint against the woman and her husband filed by the BJP leader at Kherki Daula police station.

He had filed the complaint against the woman and her husband on February 17 where he alleged that he was being blackmaile­d by the duo who were trying to extort money from him.

“The police will look into all aspects of the case and only then provide an appropriat­e reaction on the incident,” said a senior officer from Gurugram Police while commenting on the case.
