ABVP to organise demonstration on March 2

- OUR CORRESPONDENT

NEW DELHI: Amid widespread condemnation for their hooliganism, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad (ABVP), student wing of the BJP, on Tuesday announced a fresh round of peaceful demonstrations on March 2 to restore peace in the Campus.

During a press meet, Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) vice-president Priyanka says: “That ABVP protest will be organised against the people, who are trying to separate the nation in the name of Freedom of Expression and Speech.”

Saket Bahuguna, national media convener, ABVP, said: “AISA’S protest march on Tuesday had lots of outsiders, parents and ABVP further appeals to them, not to bring outsiders inside the Delhi University Campus during such protest marches. Moreover, we wish that the Left wing would not enter our Campus.” Putting the onus on the All India Students’ Association (AISA) for disrupt- ing peace in the Campus and denying allegations of molestation, the ABVP said it was the members of the former group who threw stones and dustbins at students protesting against the seminar being organised at Ramjas College. Following their stand, an ABVP activist said: “During the ‘Cultures of Protest’, anti-national slogans were raised in Ramjas College. When the students retaliated by shouting Bharat Mata Ki Jai, they were subjected to obscene gestures and were provoked.”

Another ABVP activist said: “We request to Delhi University to start an investigation against the teachers who were associated with the ‘Culture of Protests’ and were part of the organising committee. This issue is not a college or a university; this is an issue that concerns the whole nation. It concerns everyone who loves his/her country, respects the Army and rejects Left ideologies.”
