Two minors sexually assaulted in different cases, one accused held

NEW DELHI: Two separate incidents of sexual assault against women have come to the fore on Tuesday.

In the first incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her neighbour, who was in an inebriated state, in South West Delhi’s Dwarka area.

In the other incident, a student from Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalaya in Malviya Nagar has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by her Uncle. The school authoritie­s have forwarded the complaint to the local police station.

The accused in the first case lives in the girl’s neighbourh­ood and had allegedly lured the girl from her house on the pretext of buying sweets.

According to a senior police official, “We had received informatio­n about the incident at 11.30 pm, after which we formed a team and rushed to the girl’s house, where, after persuasion, she narrated the incident to us and her parents”. The girl said that the accused had lured her away by telling her that he had some sweets for her. He said he had received a bonus from work and wanted to treat her. When she said that her parents weren’t around, he desperatel­y lured her and took her to an isolated spot and touched her inappropri­ately.

The accused later threatened the girl with dire consequenc­es but she somehow managed to wrest free of the accused and came home crying. A neighbour informed her mother about the incident after which the police got the informatio­n.

“A case was registered in the incident. The accused has been arrested from his house. He was in an inebriated state while committing the crime,” said Surender Kumar, deputy Commission­er of Police (South -West).

The second case came to light when the victim girl had confided in her teacher about the incident where she alleged to being sexually assaulted by her relative. Her teacher held a meeting with the senior school authoritie­s after which the Principal had registered a complaint at the local police station.

“We have received a complaint. Her statement is being recorded, after which appropriat­e action will be taken,” said a senior police official privy to the investigat­ion. NEW DELHI: A seven-yearold boy was crushed to death by a speeding DTC bus in Rohini’s Shahbad Dairy on Tuesday.

The incident was reported at around 11 in the morning. The cops have registered a case and arrested the bus driver.

The DTC bus number 106, on route from Fatehpuri to Qutub Garh via Shahbad dairy, crushed the boy while he was trying to cross the road. The boy came under the rear wheels of the bus, police said.

The boy has been identified as Mohammad Gulsher, who resided in the nearby clusters along with his parents. Both father and mother of the deceased boy are daily wagers.

As soon as the accident occurred, huge crowd gathered at the accident site and one of the passers-by informed the cops. Locals said that the bus was full of passengers when the accident happened.

On receiving the informatio­n about the accident, the police PCR soon rushed to the spot. The boy who was severely injured was immediatel­y taken to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“We have registered a case under relevant sections and have arrested the accused driver who has been identified as Surender. We have also seized the DTC bus,” said a senior police officer.
