INDIA INC HAILS POLL RESULTS

CHANDIGARH: Industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Saturday said that the decisive mandate for the Congress in Punjab Assembly elections will boost the confidence of businesses and attract investments in the state.

Confederation of Indian Industry Northern Region Chairperson Rumjhum Chatterjee said, “It is a decisive verdict for change. We hope the new government will keep the aspirations of people in mind and work towards equitable growth. We look forward to an enabling environment for agriculture and industrial advancements.”

Congratulating the Congress party, Confederation of Indian Industry Punjab State Council Chairman Gurmeet Singh Bhatia said the clear and decisive mandate by the people will provide greater opportunities for the new government in Punjab to take bold and reform-oriented measures for the overall development of the state.

It would also enhance industry confidence and attract domestic as well as overseas investments in the state. The Confederation of Indian Industry is keen to work with the new government and play a pro-active role to chart a new growth story for Punjab, he said.

Prior to the elections, the Confederation of Indian Industry had interacted and submitted election manifesto to contesting parties outlining the key focus areas for each of the states, he said. The Confederation of Indian Industry shall extend full support to the new government towards achieving the desired mandate, he added.
