GURUGRAM: To tackle problems related to law and order owing to the Jat agitation that was slated to be held in Delhi on Monday, the Gurugram district administration had rolled out heavy security arrangements in the city.

Police personnel in large numbers were deployed at highways and major traffic routes to combat security issues.

Section 144 was also imposed in certain sensitive areas of the district. Barricades were erected across major traffic routes in the Millennium City.

Gurugram has remained unaffected by the Jat agitation which is being organised across the 19 districts of Haryana for more than two months.

However, this has not stopped the government agencies in the city to stay in touch with the Jat leaders in the city.

Ram Bilas Sharma, the education minister of Haryana stated that the State Government has agreed on the list of major demands put forward by Jat leaders. Sharma further stated that it was agreed upon the protests by Jat leaders in Delhi will be called off.

However, Yashpal Malik, the Jat leader who is spearheading the movement said that there is a list of outstanding issues.

With the All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti's plans to organise massive protests in Delhi being put on hold for at least the next 15 days, the Gurugram Police also initiated various security measures in the city.

“The Gurugram Police have made sure that citizens do not face any problems, so preventive measures were taken to ensure that there is proper law and order in the city. The police also ensured that the traffic on National Highway-8 was smooth,” said a senior official from Gurugram Police.
