Maliwal asks Rajasthan top cop to file FIR against men who assaulted minor girl
NEW DELHI: Delhi Commission for Women's (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal in a letter to Manoj Bhatt, DGP, Rajasthan has demanded strict action against all those men who behaved inappropriately with a 13-year-old minor girl during a cultural performance in a resort named Chokhi Dhani in Jaipur.
“I was on a personal visit to Chokhi Dhani in Jaipur. I noticed that during a cultural performance a young girl was being made to dance and was surrounded by men, apparently tourists,” read Maliwal's letter.
In the letter, Maliwal expressed her dismay over the minor girl who was made to dance in front of several men. She stated that the men not only showered money on the girl but also touched her inappropriately during the performance. The girl told Maliwal that she was 13-years-old.
“Those men were showering currency notes on the girl and were touching, pulling and caressing her while dancing with her. I was horrified at the audacity of the male persons in the performing troop who were making the girl dance and encouraging such acts,” added Maliwal.
Maliwal also stated that as per the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, anyone who is a witness to such an act is duty-bound to report the same to law enforcement agencies.
Also, the Commission has demanded the Rajasthan police to register a FIR against all those responsible for the act under relevant sections of POCSO Act, Child Labour Act and the Indian Penal Code in connection with the matter.
