‘WILL DIE OR KILL’, ATTACKER THREATENED THE NIGHT BEFORE

- ZAFAR ABBAS

NEW DELHI: Just a day before the incident, 23-yearold Ravi had forewarned the victim’s family members of dire consequences if they did not allow him to marry Payal.

Also, he had threatened the victim’s sister stating that Payal might face the repercussion of rejecting his marriage proposal.

“On Tuesday night Ravi was drunk and came to my house. He shouted that mar jaunga ya maar dunga (I will die or kill) . It was scary for me and I thought of informing my mother the next day. I had no idea he will throw acid on her,” said Payal’s elder sister.

Here, it is to be noted, that the tragedy could have been averted if the victim’s mother and sister approached the cops regarding Ravi’s threats. Also, Payal’s mother revealed that three days back Ravi physically assaulted her daughter.

“He thrashed by daughter three days back on the road and left her only after the public intervened. I approached his parents and they assured me that Ravi would mend ways. They were wrong,” said the sobbing mother.

Payal’s mother also stated that Ravi’s parents were also not ready for the marriage and so, they had asked his parents to stop Ravi from stalking their daughter.

“If we had the slightest idea that Ravi would go to this extent we would have certainly informed the cops. He also begged us for forgiveness once the public caught him beating my daughter. Forgiving him turned out to be our mistake,” said the regretful mother.
