LG discusses use of technology by Police, measures against mosquito-borne diseases
NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Thursday directed Delhi Police to publicise its ‘One Touch Away’ mobile application so that people could optimally utilise its services.
The direction was issued at a meeting in Raj Niwas chaired by Baijal, who reviewed the ‘Use of technology by Delhi Police’.
The meeting was attended by Principal Home Secretary, Police Commissioner and other senior officials. In the meeting, the LG also directed the force to evolve technology for proper upkeep of records.
The ‘One Touch Away App’ can be used to report various issues, such as motor vehicle theft, property theft etc.
“LG has asked the Police Commissioner to regularly test check the systems in place, utilise various apps in operation optimally and keep on digitising services offered to the people of Delhi,” the LG’S office said in a statement.
A discussion on the ‘e-saathi App’ being designed in two phases also took place.
Phase-i focuses on National Emergency Response System (NERS-112), which will integrate various services like CATS ambulance and fire department.
Phase II will focus on establishment of new state-of-the-art control room, with modern and upgraded cyber highways.
Baijal also reviewed the ‘action taken points’ of the previous meetings on traffic management, women safety, community policing initiatives, improving efficiency of police functioning, and asked officers concerned to undertake regular checks to ensure that the systems are functioning well at all times.
The LG chaired another meeting to discuss the ‘Preparedness for Dengue and Chikungunya cases’ on Thursday. After a presentation on the past experiences and challenges, the status of present preparedness and a road map for the coming months was discussed.
All stakeholders were directed to activate their Standard Operating Procedures for prevention of the two diseases.
The meeting was attended by Delhi Minister Satyender Jain, among other senior bureaucrats and officers of vaiour departments.
