BJP turned civic bodies into dens of corruption: AAP
NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday accused the BJP of turning the three civic bodies in Delhi into “dens of corruption” and turning the national Capital into a “garbage dump”.
The party added that North, South and East Municipal Corporations, where BJP was at the helm, had failed miserably on the developmental front.
AAP Delhi Convener Dilip Pandey said that the BJP was in power in the three municipal bodies for 10 years, but they had failed on fronts ranging from sanitation to education due to misgovernance.
“The BJP has turned the Municipal Corporations into dens of corruption. They have made Delhi a garbage dump. Sanitation and cleanliness in the city is pathetic,” Pandey told reporters here.
The Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on the Municipal Corporations clearly said that these had completely failed on the waste disposal front, Pandey said.
“MCD could dispose only 25 percent of the total waste generated in Delhi. The CAG had also held the civic bodies completely responsible for dengue, chikungunya and malaria outbreaks here,” he added.
He further said the AAP government in Delhi released around double the funds to Bjp-ruled MCDS than the earlier governments, but still these failed to disburse salaries to their sanitation employees and made excuses of fund crunch.
“The North MCD is facing a cash deficit of Rs 2,700 crore, but the BJP leaders are not able to find a solution. The revenue of the civic bodies is not increasing while expenses are doubling,” he said.
