BJP to rake up report during MCD poll campaign
NEW DELHI: Both BJP and Congress have attacked the incumbent party over the Shunglu Committee report.
On Thursday, BJP avouched to reach out to every street and locality with AAP'S ‘Gross Abuse of Power.' At the party headquarters Union minister and senior BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman said, “The government has encouraged and made flamboyant and illegal decisions.”
Referring the former LG Najeeb Jung appointed Shunglu Committee report over 404 files of Delhi government, the Union Minister mentioned,
“The kind of information in the Shunglu Committee report pertains very seriously to issues of propriety and making decisions on subjects wherein it (AAP government) has no role to play.”
VK Shunglu, former CAG led this committee's over 100 pages report alleged that ministers and top bureaucrats abused power to nepotism.
Abhinav Rai was hired on a contract basis with the designation of an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
As per rules, the appoint- ment requires a vacant post of Upper Divisional Clerk (UDC). Rai's salary was raised to Rs 87,000, which is approximately four times the salary of an UDC.
The salary of an OSD cannot be raised without the permission of the Lieutenant Governor, which did not happen, Shunglu report mentioned.
Senior BJP leader Bijendra Gupta also raised another issue regarding foreign trip cost of Deputy CM, Delhi Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satendra Jain.
Gupta claimed that they spent only Rs. 7.5 Lakh as taxi fare with personal interest in their recent official tour.
Thus, the Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari asked for CM Kejriwal's suspension for the misusing power.
