With poll campaign getting good response, BJP top brass exudes confidence
NEW DELHI: Manoj Tiwari, after addressing another one of his Municipal Corporation election rallies in the city on Thursday, said that after being appointed chief of Delhi BJP, “I went amongst the people belonging to SCS, backward classes, people of living in jhuggi bastis, rehabilitation colonies, and unauthorised colonies and also stayed with them in order to understand their problems.”
“Today, I can say that the people of Delhi have faith in BJP and on April 23 they shall not only vote to make the BJP victorious but they shall use this opportunity as a referendum against the Kejriwal government,” Tiwari added
Tiwari stated that the performance of the Bjprun civic bodies was not up to the “high standard” the party had set for itself. He, however, exuded confidence that Modi’s image will make the party win the MCD polls for the third time in a row.
“The Corporations ruled by the party have not been able to touch the benchmark of work set by the BJP at the national level after it came to power in 2014,” Tiwari said.
He also slammed the Kejriwal government for not being able to ensure proper functioning of the three MCDS, saying “the bodies are departments which come under the Delhi government and it is the latter’s responsibility to ensure its smooth running.”
“Let Kejriwal handle the Municipal Corporations and the BJP be allowed to run the Delhi government. Everything will be fixed,” Tiwari quipped. He said that the MCDS have come up with beautiful parks to save people from pollution.
The Bhojpuri actor singer-turned-politician maintained that the party will not face antiincumbency in the upcoming elections, which he said was the “semi-final” to the next Assembly elections in Delhi, whose Chief Minister will be from the saffron party.
The “so-called” anti-incumbency against the Bjp-ruled MCDS is “not so much visible on the ground” as is being discussed in the media and by Opposition parties, Tiwari said. “Municipal corporations are merely a department of the Delhi government. Therefore, the Delhi Chief Minister is fully responsible if the civic bodies have not been able to perform up to the mark,” he asserted.
Union Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh, while campaigning for the MCD elections on Thursday, said that the people of Delhi have been deprived of inclusive development in the last two years as the local Government did not implement development schemes and denied benefits of the Central schemes to the people.
Singh said that Prime Minister Narender Modi’s government takes decision in the interest of the nation and, by honest implementation, wins the people’s support.
