Junior doctors urge SC to cancel NEET-PG results

-

NEW DELHI: The junior doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences-delhi and other hospitals have questioned the guidelines issued regarding the time frame for conducting NEET-PG as the subsequent counselling process has not been followed and urged the Supreme Court to cancel the results.

The doctors alleged “Irregularities in NEET PG-2017 All India Counselling” to the apex court. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Post Graduate aspirants have pointed out that for the current academic section, the Medical Council Committee (MCC) had issued guidelines to all the participating states to conduct their respective ‘first' round of counselling in the month of April after the first round of all India counselling and prior to the second round of all India counselling.

The aspirants stated that this would have ensured proper and justified allotment of seats but it is not what is happening.

The candidates said that the second round of counselling for the 50 per cent of all India quota seats was already held and the results were declared on April 4, 2017 as per the declared schedule, which on the surface and to a layman, appears to be just.

The candidates said that due to certain issues in the allotment process of the respective state quota seats, the earlier issued guidelines of the court are not being followed with uniformity.

Supporting the demands of the residents, Dr Vijaj Kumar Gurjar, President-rda, AIIMS, said, “All the hopes of the medical graduates seeking admission into PG courses are depending on the court decision, which can either make or break their careers and lives.” He urged the Chief Justice to declare the second round of allotment of all India 50 per cent quota seats to be null and void and issue guidelines to MCC for re-conducting the second round of all India counselling.

Dr Vijay said, "A third round of counselling should be conducted, after the first round of counselling of all the participating states, without any exception, after their respective issues have been resolved."
