NEW DELHI: To avenge the sacking, an accused driver returned after a year to knock on the same door. On Sunday afternoon, a 27-year-old fashion designer in Delhi's Malviya Nagar opened the door to her former driver. The accused requested her to move her car as it was obstructing the way of his present employer's car.

Unsuspecting Kaveri fell in the trap and moved with him for the same. Following this, two school children came rushing to her house to inform Kaveri's mother that she was bleeding profusely.

Rushing to the spot, her mother found out that Kaveri was already taken to the hospital by their neighbours. “After some altercation, her ex-driver Anil had stabbed her on her windpipe by a knife,” said sources. The accused had fled the spot. Also, her Wagon-r car bore blood marks.

Kaveri is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Though she has been declared stable on Monday but is unfit for statements.

“It was me who was going with the driver first but then my daughter took the keys and went with him. We sacked him last year after we found that he was indecent. He had worked with us for just 15 days,” said her mother, Rekha.

However, the cops are yet to find if Anil came back to take revenge or there are some unknown facts behind the gruesome attack.

“Her mother came to us and asked for help. We accompanied Kaveri's mother to the hospital in a police PCR,” said victim's landlord, Arti Sareen.

The police believe that after Kaveri's statement, the motive behind the assault will emerge clearer. They have formed several teams to arrest the accused. “The assailant has also been captured on a CCTV camera and is seen walking while tugging his shirt minutes after stabbing Kaveri,” added sources.

According to Additional DCP South, Chinmoy Biswal, no substantial leads could be found from the family.

“The mother could not provide any clue or contact number of the driver. We have registered a case of attempt to murder and are looking for the suspect."
