GREATER NOIDA/ GHAZIABAD: In two separate incidents of kidnapping, two infants who have been abducted by their neighbour were reunited with their families by the Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad police on Monday.

On Saturday, from Surajpur in Greater Noida, an 8-monthold who is now home safe was kidnapped by a woman living in their neighborhood. Prince, son of Brajesh Kumar and Premlata, went missing since 10 am. The boy's parents alleged that he was last seen with their neighbour, Neelam.

Following this, his parents lodged a complaint at Surajpur Police station at around 3 pm and named Neelam as the primary accused. Soon after the incident Neelam and his husband Pradeep went untraceable. “A FIR was lodged under Section 363 of the IPC at Surajpur police station and police began with their rescue operations,” said a cop.

According to Superintendent of police (rural), Gautam Buddh Nagar, Suniti Singh, they had formed teams to trace both the child and the woman. “The teams searched all the suspected locations while one team was sent to Farrukhabad as the accused couple hails from the same. The modus operandi was to ensure the safety of the child,” said Suniti.

She stated that within 36 hours of kidnapping, the infant along with the accused lady was rescued from Pari Chowk, Greater Noida. “The accused, Neelam has been arrested by the police and she has accepted herself to be guilty of committing the crime. The child has been handed over to the guardians and an additional section of 369 IPC has been added against the accused,” added Singh.

In the second incident, a 9-month-old was allegedly kidnapped 13 days ago from Sihani Gate area in Ghaziabad. The infant was rescued from Ghaziabad railway station on Monday. “The accused Shyam Lal Burman was worried about not having any child even after having several years of medical treatment. Therefore, he hatched a conspiracy to kidnap their neighbour Ravi Kumar's son,” said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.

The accused, a resident of Nandgram area hails from West Bengal. He went to a relative in Lucknow with the kidnapped child and kept on changing his locations constantly. “Acting on a tip-off, the accused was traced and arrested at Ghaziabad railway station on Monday and the boy has been handed over to the family. A FIR has been registered against him at Sihani gate police station under section 363 IPC” added Tomar.
