Finish maintenance work by June: MCG to builders

- PIYUSH OHRIE

GURUGRAM: In a meeting held on Tuesday, the MCG chief has warned the private developers to get the completion certificate from the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) within June or else, their licenses will be cancelled.

Even after 20-30 years of getting the certificates, most of the private developers are yet to apply for full completion certificate from the public agencies.

The completion certificate is provided to the developer by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) after they build the infrastructure in their colonies according to the initial plans submitted to the public agency.

Allegations have been levelled against private builders by the residents that by this, the builders are purposely not spending money on the improvement of roads, streetlights, and cleanliness in their colonies.

Certain private colonies like Ardee city, Sushant Lok -2 till date do not even have the completion certificate. This prevents the MCG to take over the maintenance of these colonies that is expected to come under Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Act (HRERA).

The meeting was held to discuss the issue of taking over private colonies between MCG, Private developers and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA'S).

In the discussion, MCG Chief Umashankar stated that colonies should speed up the maintenance work soon for the full completion certificate.

This will also help them takeover over the private colonies soon.

The MCG Chief mentioned that the developers must fill in the infrastructural deficiencies in their area or provide MCG with the money so that they can undertake the incomplete maintenance projects.

The MCG has chosen three private consultants that will survey the maintenance works in the private colonies.

“It was a huge relief when the MCG Chief came heavily on private builders for not speeding up the maintenance works and thereby delaying the handover of the colonies. They charging huge maintenance fee from the residents and yet not providing the adequate services. With various residents now not paying the maintenance fee these builders have come up with a new excuse that lack of funds is resulting in them not providing maintenance services,” said Dhruv Bansal Spokesperson Gurugram Citizens Council.

“We will continue to exert pressure on the authorities for the action against the developer so that proper services can be provided to the residents, “said Ankur Gupta resident of Ardee city. NOIDA: The long awaited first Real Time Automatic Air Quality Monitoring System gets installed in Sector-125 here by Ecotech, Australia in association with Envirotech, which is funded by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB).

This unit will monitor the air quality on 12 parameters, including particulate matter, NO2, SO2 and CO2 levels, and the air quality index.

Until now, there was no facility to get real-time automatic updates on air pollution as there were only two manual systems.

It will continuously display the pollution levels which will be shared with UPPCB.

Regional officer of UPPCB, B.B Awasthi, said “Keeping in mind the rapid growth in urbanisation and increasing population, there was an urgent need to install such air quality monitoring stations in the city. Previously we had manual air quality monitoring stations which provide limited access to the data. It will help us to access pollution levels 24 hours and enable us to develop mitigation strategies for them”.

The city has around 8,000 industrial units, six sewage treatment plants and hundreds of under-construction realty projects, which are major causes of pollution.

The manifold increase in the number of vehicles is also one of the major contributors to air pollution.

The concentration of vehicular pollution is typically 5 to 10 times higher than ambient air, thus causing severe health implications.

“Urban air pollution is the 13th largest cause of deaths worldwide. As per a new study, India's worsening air pollution caused over 1.1 million premature deaths in 2015,” said experts.

Till date, Ardee city and Sushant Lok-2 do not have their completion certificates
