NEW DELHI: The 27-yearold fashion designer who was attacked by her former driver in Malviya Nagar a few days back has been taken out of ventilator on Wednesday.

The victim has shown signs of improvement and would soon be taken out of the ICU, said, doctors.

Kaveri was attacked by her former driver Anil in the parking near her house on Sunday afternoon.

The driver has been absconding since then. The cops have made several teams to arrest him. Technical surveillance has been pressed into action along with local intelligence. Police are also ques- tioning his friends and relatives about Anil's possible hideouts.

“We are raiding at every possible place. We have certain leads and would soon arrest him,” said a senior police officer.

“She is looking fine now and can talk with gestures. Though the doctors have advised her not to speak but she has certainly shown signs of improvement,” said the victim's friend, Prashant.

The daytime attack in a busy parking area in Malviya Nagar has sent shockwaves among the residents.

“This is horrible, how someone can dare to attack a girl in broad daylight and walk away. This has scared us as well. The attacker should be caught and put behind bars,” said Arti Sarin, landlord of Kaveri.

The family told the cops that Anil returned after a year of being sacked by them to take revenge. The driver called Kaveri from her house on the pretext of removing her car as it was jamming the way of his present employer's car.

The investigation revealed that he was not employed by anyone in the colony. As Kaveri accompanied him with the car keys, he stabbed her with a knife that. Two school kids who saw her bleeding had rushed to help her.

“Once the assailant is caught or Kaveri gets in a position to give any statement, it would be clear what the actual motive for the attack was,” said cops.
