NEW DELHI: A Class IX student of a government school was stabbed to death by his friends, with whom he had an altercation over a trivial issue.

The boy was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead. Cops have detained one of the accused and are on the lookout for another.

The incident was reported on Wednesday night when Wasim left his house in Govindpuri around 6 pm. Later, he got into a fight with two boys and was stabbed in the heat of the argument. The reason for the fight is still not clear.

At 11 pm, the parents got a call from the local police that their son had been stabbed. The incident took place near lane 12 of Govindpuri in a park.

Sources in Delhi Police said that Wasim had fallen into bad company and had run away from his house in September 2016. However, he later returned in December.

“His father warned him against the bad company he was in and often scolded him to mend his ways. He fell in the company of pick pockets. This altercation might be a fall out of that,” said a senior police officer.

The family members have demanded that the accused be caught at the earliest. Meanwhile, the police have formed several teams to nab the accused.

“We have detained one of the boys with whom he had a scuffle with. The search for the other is underway.” said Romil Baaniya, DCP South East.
