Two brave cops felicitate­d by Delhi Police Commission­er

NEW DELHI: Two policemen were felicitate­d by Delhi Police Commission­er Amulya Patnaik for their daring effort in arresting notorious criminals despite being bitten and attacked by iron rods in North East Delhi's Karawal Nagar.

On May 21, around 1 am, a PCR call regarding quarrel was received at P.S. Karawal Nagar. After this, ASI Shiv Shankar along with Const. Vinay went to the spot.

When they reached the Yadav Gali Ankur Enclave, they spotted two persons on TVS Appache motorcycle. On suspicion, the staff signaled them to stop the motor cycle but they refused to stop.

Following this, the ASI blocked them with their motorcycle.

Due to sudden break, their motorcycle slipped. ASI Shiv Shankar caught one person who bit his right thumb and ran away.

Constable Vinay Kumar caught another person who attacked him with iron rod kept for breaking locks and kept biting his left arm for full ten minutes but Ct. Vinay overpowere­d him.

This brave effort of the constable led to the arrest of the accused Sonu alias kana who is a resident of Karawal Nagar.

“The accused is BC of the Karawal Nagar. He revealed that he along with his associate was planning to commit a crime in the area on their stolen motorcycle.

On further verificati­on, it was found that the motorcycle has been stolen from the area of Police Post DLF Ankur Vihar. We have solved 25 cases of theft with the arrest,” said Ajit Kumar Singla, DCP North East.

The Commission­er later felicitate­d the two policemen in the presence of other senior police officers. NEW DELHI: In a quarrel that took an ugly turn in Central Delhi's Daryaganj, a Nepalese man was lynched to death by two men who work as staff at a hotel.

The victim has been identified as Jas Bahadur. On Sunday night, Bahadur had got into an altercatio­n with the hotel staff over some trivial issue. Enraged at this, the two accused assaulted him and rained punches and kicks him.

Bahadur collapsed and was taken to the hospital, but was declared brought dead.

"We have registered a case and have arrested the accused" said a senior police officer.
