Four held for murdering property dealer in Burari

NEW DELHI: Several murders have taken place over property disputes in Delhi. However, in a rare case, the entire family of a Bahujan Samaj Party leader was killed after a month long planning, by his property dealer friend.

After killing his entire family and dumping their bodies across two states, the accused also killed the BSP leader Munnawar Hassan on Saturday.

The police were completely stunned when they found that Bunty, the accused, had orchestrated the murder of Hassan's entire family to get hold of his property worth several crores. Bunty had killed Hassan's wife and four children – two sons and daughters – over a month and dumped their bodies in two different places. Cops have so far arrested Bunty and his neighbour Deepak. Two contract killers, Feroze and Zulfikar, were also arrested.

“He (the accused) gave conflicting statements. He had earlier claimed that he shot them, and now he is claiming they were strangulated to death. Once the bodies are exhumed and the post-mortem is conducted, we will be able to ascertain the cause of death,” said a police source from North District.

However, during sustained interrogation, Bunty broke down and confessed that he eliminated his entire family. “He had made forged property documents and wanted to kill his family members to get hold of his property. After killing his family, Bunty kept meeting Hassan and waited for an opportunity to kill him,” said DCP (North) Jatin Narwal.

Cops told Millennium Post that Bunty had killed Hassan's wife Ishrat, two minor girls aged 17 and 15, and his two sons Sakib (19) and his elder brother, who was also a minor. Later, Bunty dumped three bodies in Uttar Pradesh and two in Delhi. Several teams have been deputed to the site where the bodies have been buried.

The teams, working under the supervision of the local SDM, are exhuming the bodies so as to ascertain how they were killed.

After Hassan was found with gunshot wounds on Sunday, police unsuccessfully tried to trace his family. Hassan himself had been released on parole for his involvement in a rape case.

“Hassan had many cases against him, ranging from land grabbing, abduction to rape and Arms Act. He had also contested a legislative assembly seat in 2014 from Badli constituency. We tried to investigate if he was killed because of his previous criminal involvements,” Narwal added.

The prime accused, Bunty, had also murdered the victim's family over the course of a month
