BJP workers protest against Delhi govt outside Secretariat
NEW DELHI: The BJP on Wednesday staged a protest against what they called ‘rampant corruption in Delhi government' and urged Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to order an inquiry into the alleged Rs 300-crore medicine and ambulance purchase scam.
Hundreds of state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers demonstrated outside the Delhi Secretariat and raised slogans against the Aam Adami Party (AAP) government.
“The latest exposure of Rs 300-crore scam, which includes corruption in the purchase of medicines, in the Health Department has shamed and shocked the citizens of Delhi,” said Delhi BJP spokesperson Rajiv Babbar.
Babbar urged the Lieutenant Governor to order a probe into the alleged scam.
“I request the Lieutenant Governor to order a thorough inquiry into this medicine and ambulance purchase scam,” added the BJP leader.
The BJP'S protest came in the wake of allegations made by sacked Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on May 27.
Mishra had accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendra Jain of misappropriating health funds and claimed that there were three health scams, including one involving Rs 300 crore.
The protest was also joined by Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta.
